Clear Channel Pays Up

A court case between Clear Channel Communications and Grantely Patent Holdings finally came to a close on April 22 when Grantely was awarded $66 million from Clear Channel due to patent infringement.
Apparently, Clear Channel invented and sold a revenue management devise called Viero to all the broadcast and cable industries. Billy Shane Fox, founder and co-owner, of Grantely Patent Holdings stated that he had invented and patented four revenue management devices that were similar to Clear Channel’s, Viero. Grantley claimed Clear Channel’s, Viero, to be an infringement of the copyrights.
The trial began on April 14 and lasted until April 22 when the jury decided to award Grantely $66,029,750, claiming that Clear Channel infringed the patents. Clear Channel is said to file an appeal in the near future.
Clear Channel currently manages and owns over 1,200 radio stations in the US.
